Are you a female university student in your final year who's interested in an exciting career in technology? Well, good, because Vodafone are interested in offering you exactly that.
In the UK only 17% of people working in technology are female, making it one of the most gender-imbalanced industries out there.
Why is this? Well, according to recent research by technology jobs website CWJobs, one of the main reasons why women are put off from pursuing a technology career is that nearly half of them perceive there to be a male-dominated culture within the industry. Another 40% of women steer away from techology jobs because they believe it will be difficult to be promoted to senior roles.
The good news for female students who, in spite of everything, are considering a career in technology is that Vodafone are on a mission to charge up the industry with some much-needed girl power.
With more than just a few women in managerial and directorial positions, and already recognised as one of the best employers for women in the UK in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2018, Vodafone are looking to add yet more female talent to their technology teams through their 2019 Technology Discover Graduate Programme.
That’s why they’re inviting you to their Women in Technology event at the Vodafone headquarters in London on Thursday 9th May 2019.
Hosted by some of the company’s leading female figures, the event aims to provide talented technology students with the opportunity to learn more about what a career in technology at Vodafone can offer, from a genuinely diverse and supportive culture to incredible scope for progression.
Throughout the day you’ll have the chance to hear from women who are already successfully climbing up the career ladder at Vodafone, network with them and your fellow students and experience the type of assessment activities you can expect to face when starting out in your technology career.
Not only that, but everyone who attends the event will be in with a chance of receiving an offer of a place on the Technology Discover Graduate Programme the very next day.
You can apply to attend the event if you:
- are a final year university student
- are studying a technology related degree – this could include, but is not limited to: electrical engineering, computer science, telecommunications, software development/engineering, network engineering, AI/robotics, big data, security or information technology
